Black Acres Coffee

Black Acres Roastery was founded in 2018 by Travis Bell, who was inspired to purchase his own roaster after completing roaster training at Mill City Roasters in Minnesota. Travis began developing the Black Acres brand in Baltimore City by hosting small pop-ups hosted by small businesses, until he was able to launch the brand's first full-service cafe and on-site roastery at Open Works in Fall 2021. Today, Black Acres operates at Lexington Market, Open Works, and provides packaged goods at grocery stores such as Trader Joes.

Black Acres ethically sources beans and curates unique roasting profiles. Black Acres is a Black-owned coffee business that provides jobs for a dozen people, located in Baltimore. They implement a training program, teaching employees about coffee, customer service, and manufacturing. Black Acres leases space to produce its coffee in an opportunity zone located in Baltimore.
